"I pride myself in my work. There's honestly not a project that I've worked on that I haven't invested myself 100% in. I think that says a lot about who I am as a person but also the love I have for my craft and therefore my company. I started Coma Edits in 2011 and I have learned a lot growing alongside it but most importantly I have seen the ways in which post-production can come to a crippling halt as well as the ways it can flourish.
Coma Edits is a place you can bring your post-production needs and be confident you will have great talent developing a top quality product, with all deadlines guaranteed, led by someone well versed in the industry and has a knack for solving problems before they happen. We're creating a new standard for post production here at Coma Edits."
Katie Flach has delivered as an editor, as well as a co-owner of a post house to networks including Discovery, APTN, CBC, and Disney. No matter how all encompassing or singular the role, she thrives in the edit suite. With a particular touch for the finesse of a fine cut, and a strong sense of story in a rough cut, she is a force in her craft.
"I've been drawn to film & television for as long as I can remember. Escaping into another world via story has been a place of solace for me, regardless of the topic or nature of each tale. As I solidified my career as an editor, I realized that documentary very much intrigued me. The journalistic approach of telling real stories, paired with the ever broadening artistic integrity of documentary as a genre, was a place I knew I could excel. I find it's the perfect mix of creative and being technologically inclined, as well as being a bit of a perfectionist.
Building a post house has only strengthened my inherent tendency to bring people together and support them. As a collective we mentor and support one another no matter our place in each of our careers. Sharing real stories, amongst creatives that have found themselves within the format for various reasons, reminds me that I've found my true purpose in life. A calling I never knew I had but needed to follow, and a team that has a familial sense of connection and unity.
